The electric vehicle market is evolving rapidly, and charging solutions must keep pace. Mister EV has identified several major trends for electric car charging in 2025: monitoring energy consumption, managing charging, installing a secure solution, and choosing reliable equipment.
Focus on these essential elements to optimize the charging of your electric vehicle. 👇
Monitoring and management of home charging consumption
Accurate monitoring of consumption is becoming a major issue, particularly for optimizing energy costs at home.
Some terminals are equipped with MID-certified energy meters, allowing consumption data to be sent via their dedicated application.
MID stands for "Measuring Instruments Directive." It is a European directive that certifies the accuracy of measuring instruments, including energy meters for charging stations.
Other models can connect directly to Linky meters, thus offering detailed monitoring and the possibility of optimizing charging according to the most advantageous periods.
By tracking energy consumption related to charging, you can optimize charging times and thus reduce your bill.
Installing a charging solution with consumption tracking also makes it easier for companies to reimburse charging costs for company vehicles. With upcoming legislative changes regarding benefits in kind, better management of home charging will be essential.
💡 Good to know : If you install a terminal with consumption monitoring at home for reimbursement of your top-ups by your employer, make sure that it is compatible with the monitoring tool used by your company.
Install at least one reinforced socket for charging at home

While a household outlet is the easiest charging solution to use, it's often too slow and unsafe. A reinforced outlet dedicated to charging electric vehicles is becoming the minimum recommended for safety and to cut charging times in half. Installing a charging station is still the preferred option for faster charging (up to 10 times faster).
Reliability of domestic terminals
The findings are dire! Some terminals sold on the market today are neither repairable nor dismantled, which poses a real durability problem.
Although there is no repairability index for this product category at the moment, it is still possible to choose terminals recognized for their reliability.
Investing in a robust and repairable terminal guarantees a lifespan of 5 to 8 years.
💡 Good to know :
- Some terminals are equipped with sensors allowing minimal remote maintenance thanks to telemetry.
- To extend the lifespan of a domestic terminal, it is recommended to carry out maintenance at least once a year.
Innovations in electric vehicle charging
On the innovation side, we're eagerly awaiting the domestic V2G terminals . While we've found the first models designed for the R5 Electric, we'll have to wait a little longer to find models compatible with all vehicles on the market, with a European standard and at an affordable price for individuals.

Mobilize Power Bidirectional Charge (Vehicle-2-Grid) for the R4 Electric, at the Rencontres Flottes Automobiles in Paris on February 6, 2025.
On the side of the rapid direct current terminals (DC), self-charging arrives in France with the Powerdot and Chargemap network. This principle allows for automatic charging without intervention thanks to the vehicle's recognition by the terminal. This saves a few more minutes when charging your vehicle and improves the experience of e-mobilists!
Further innovations for electric vehicle charging are expected in the coming years with the ISO 15118 standard (Plug & Charge), the bidirectional communication protocol between the vehicle and the charging station.
